The lovely Heavenly Housewife threw out a challenge to all bloggers; make a fabulous cheesecake and then publish the effort on a specific day. Not just any cheesecake though, Ottolenghi’s Caramel and Macademia nut fantasma. It required crafting two types of caramel which resulted in sticky, fine sugar strands across the kitchen. The glam pooch was in heaven.
There are eight of us potential patissiers, you can see everyone’s effort (mine is left) and judge for yourself how close we came to duplicating the delicious dessert.
Enjoy GG

Your cake looks really excellent. My cake seems much messier, somehow. Did you eat the whole cake the first day, like we were tempted to do?
Thank you HH for getting us all together. I would never have made this without encouragement. However like you Stevie I was tempted to eat it all. Alone! Probably just as well I haven’t made one before. I actually took it to a BBQ and basked in the oohs and aahs. GG
Now that is what I call gooey goodness!!!!
Looks fabulous GG!

All the cakes look divine! This was great fun and I am so glad I participated, I got to make wonderful new friends along the way. So was there anything left at the BBQ? Mine is finished already…the kids devoured it in 1 day. I got one slice. Just as well I guess!
Every crumb went at the BBQ, my children didn’t get a look in! I might try making another with chocolate topping like Steve’s from Weird Combinations, maybe a smaller one?
Wow amazing cheesecake. How much nuts did you use? I love your nut topping. I think I’ll double the amount of nuts next time.
Thanks for the kind words, I just used the amount of nuts specified in the recipe but chopped them leaving some whole. It makes it look like there are far more nuts. GG
Waow, no wonder that you had compliments for this beauty! It looks so good with all the nuts on top
Such a beautiful sight! I just love the topping – the best cheesecake EVER!
Love the topping – I have a weak spot for macademia nuts and caramel!
This should have come with a warning: do not read unless in possession of a slice of cheesecake
